7. How does TCP differ from
UDP?
8. Briefly explain the
functions of transport layer.

11. (a) Draw the block diagram
of an OSI reference model and briefly explain the functions of each.

(b) Explain different types of satellites
used as transmission media.
12. (a) Explain in detail about
the sliding window protocol.

(b) Compare pure ALOHA with slotted ALOHA
with special reference to their efficiencies..
13. (a) Explain each of the
following with suitable examples.
(i) Unicast. (iii) Broadcast.
(ii) Multicast.
Or
(b) Compare centralised and de-centralised
routing algorithms. Explain any one of them with a suitable example.
14. (a) Can an application
running over UDR ensure reliable data transfer ? If so how ?
(b) Explain the alternating bit protocol
for reliable data transfer.
15. (a) Name the application
layer protocol used for e-mail and explain the same.
